The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office invites the public to gain an insider’s perspective on its operations and responsibilities by participating in the 2026 Citizens' Academy. This academy will run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in January and early February (starting on January 6th, 2026) from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Participants must attend at least six sessions to earn a Certificate of Completion.
The four-week program offers a unique opportunity to explore various aspects of law enforcement, including patrol and detention operations, tactical response, communications, crime scene investigations, and crime prevention strategies. Sessions will also cover the DARE program, school resource officer initiatives, ACOVA (A Community Organization for Victim Assistance), law enforcement training, and high-tech crime investigations.
Participants can experience hands-on learning with tours of the Pueblo County Jail and the interactive training simulation room. All sessions are conducted by knowledgeable members of the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and subject-matter experts in each respective area.
This free program requires a firm commitment to attending all sessions. Space is limited, so interested individuals are encouraged to apply early. Don’t miss this chance to deepen your understanding of local law enforcement and its vital role in the community.
